Mission

ATTENTION VIETNAM VETS!

Your local Key West Citizen Veterans wish to establish a Vietnam Living Memorial at Bayview Park to honor all individuals that were either born in Key West or lived in Key West, and served in Vietnam prior to the Vietnam War’s official end date of 30 April 1975.

Vietnam Veterans who moved to Key West after the above designated time period may be recognized by purchasing an engraved paver block which will be located directly on the Memorial Park grounds.  Please see our Engrave a Brick section.

In order to be included – a copy of one’s DD-214 will be required, and should be sent to:
Vietnam Living Memorial c/o P.O. Box 5413 Key West, FL 33045. Please include your phone number

The Memorial Park will also recognize the names of all Key West and Florida Keys servicemen who died during the Vietnam War.

It is anticipated the Park will also include a designated future space for Veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan Middle East conflicts.

The Vietnam Living Memorial Fund, Inc. is a 501c(3) non-profit Florida Corporation.

The Memorial Park design, donated pro-bono by Bender & Associates Architects, P.A. and Little John Engineering Associates outlines what an inspiring interactive healing site the well landscaped grounds will be. The Memorial Wall and Garden will commemorate, honor, and respect those who gave so much, and will serve as a positive connection between the soldier and society.

The City of Key West has graciously agreed to our use of the land, and will provide 1/3 of the project’s projected funding. The remaining construction funds are to be provided by an approved TDC Capital Projects Grant and private/public donations.

The Memorial’s construction target date to break ground is Veteran’s Day November 11, 2014, and completion / dedication date of November 11, 2015.

It is time we truly Welcomed Home our Vietnam Vets.
